New Delhi: Demanding arrest against Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev for his derogatory remark against allopathy, staff at several hospitals across the country held a nationwide demonstration on Tuesday.
The health workers were seen holding placards and calling for the arrest of the founder of Patanjali Ayurved.
Meanwhile, Medical associations from across the nation have observed a ‘Black Day’ and also demanded an ‘unconditional open public apology for his comments.
Raising objection over the government’s ‘no action against the yoga guru’, the Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) has also called the protest.
Though the medical staff declared a nationwide Black day, the healthcare service across the country has not been hampered yet.
“We demand an unconditional open public apology from Baba Ramdev or action against him under the relevant sections of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897,” FORDA said.
“One shouldn’t get away after belittling and ridiculing the sacrifice of the fraternity. The anguish we have would reflect in our agitation today,” it added.
It is pertinent to be mentioned here that Baba Ramdev was recently forced to withdraw a statement made in a viral video clip, in which he was heard questioning some of the medicines being used to treat the coronavirus infection and saying that “lakhs have died from taking allopathic medicines for Covid-19”.
In a statement, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Resident Doctors Association said, such “slanderous remarks” by Ramdev will “incite violence against the healthcare services personnel and would lead to a total failure of public health systems.”
Earlier, Union health minister Harsh Vardhan also wrote a letter to Patanjali founder asking him to retract his objectionable statements against allopathy.
