Bhubaneswar: As a fresh low pressure is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm by May 25, the state government has geared up to tackle the situation of natural calamity.
The Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Jena on Thursday held a high-level meeting with the Secretaries of all departments of the State government and the officials of India Meteorological Department to access the preparedness for the possible cyclone.
SRC Pradeep Jena had a video conference with Collectors of 10 districts and other officials of Police, Fire Services, ODRAF, NDRF and directed all the departments to remain ready to tackle the emergency with machinery and manpower.
Jena informed that all stakeholders have already initiated advance preparations in view of the situation.
The departments have been advised to initiate preparedness like Shelters identification, staff deployment, training, facilities check, infrastructure check, evacuation planning for the possible cyclone. It has also directed officials to mobilise ASHA, WSHGs and plan food supply and medical assistance.
