Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has breached 1000 tons of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) from different Steel Plants of its jurisdiction towards different States like Maharastra, Telengana, Haryana and Delhi.
During this COVID-19 upsurge, ECoR has taken up the mantle of transporting LMO in a major way for saving lives of patients. A total of 895.86 Ton of LMO has already been transported from Angul area, 133.2 tonne from Jajpur area, and 104.43 tonne from Visakhapatnam area towards various States.
From Angul, Tata Bhusan Limited and Jindal Steel and Power Limited have majorly contributed in producing LMO. 188.07 tonne of LMO loaded from Angul towards Telengana in 14 tankers by 03 Trains, 243.88 tonne towards Nagpur in 16 tankers by 04 trains and 463.91 tonne towards Delhi area and Haryana by 28 tankers in 10 trains since last 10 days.
Apart from this, 133.2 tonne of LMO loaded from Tata Steel Plant in Kalinga Nagar towards Delhi area in 07 cryogenic tankers in a train. Similarly, 104.43 tonne of LMO was loaded from Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited Visakhapatnam towards Nagpur & Nasik Road in last week of April, 2021.
Various empty tankers have been air lifted from Delhi area to Bhubaneswar for fast loading. East coast Railway has taken all precautions for safe running of Oxygen Express Special Trains from its jurisdiction and sending these trains at the earliest. Liquid Oxygen being a cryogenic cargo utmost care have been taken about the maximum speed at which it can be carried, maximum acceleration & deceleration. More Empty Liquid Medical Oxygen Tankers from different States are on the way to carry LMO from ECoR jurisdiction. Green Corridor has been announced for transportation of these Oxygen tankers.
ECoR General Manager Vidya Bhushan had earlier instructed officials to take it as a challenge to supply Oxygen at the earliest during the crisis for life-saving of patients. He has stressed upon proper lashing and packing of the tankers on the rake. ECoR is in full preparedness for providing oxygen transportation services to all the states in need.
