The Parala Maharaja Engineering College (PMEC), Berhampur has successfully developed the High-Performance Multiplier IC-C2S0061—an integral component of India’s first indigenous chip.

Chief Minister Shri Mohan Majhi took to social media platform X to congratulate the team, stating, “A matter of great pride for #Odisha! The achievement of PMEC Berhampur in developing the High Performance Multiplier IC-C2S0061 as part of India’s first indigenous chips marks a significant milestone in our nation’s semiconductor journey”.

The innovation aligns with the national vision under the #SemiconIndia2025 initiative and #MakeInIndia campaign, positioning Odisha as a rising contributor to India’s digital and technological transformation. The chip, developed by PMEC’s research team, is expected to play a critical role in high-speed computing and embedded systems, reinforcing India’s push for self-reliance in semiconductor manufacturing.

The Skill Development and Technical Education Department also lauded the achievement, calling it a proud step toward realizing the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Majhi.

This milestone not only showcases the technical prowess of Odisha’s academic institutions but also strengthens India’s position in the global semiconductor ecosystem.
