The Odisha Revenue Employees’ Association has officially called off its 15-day-long protest, with staff set to resume duty from today.
The decision follows assurances from the state government, along with consideration for the ongoing flood situation in several districts and the upcoming festival season.
Revenue employees had gone on mass leave starting August 11 to press for a 10-point charter of demands, including revisions in basic pay, provision of health insurance, and other service-related benefits.
During the strike, the Revenue and Disaster Management Department had issued strict instructions to all district collectors to initiate disciplinary action against employees who remained absent despite repeated reminders.
Lists of employees on leave were also demanded to ensure proper action. While leave requests had previously been cancelled, many employees did not report for work, causing significant disruptions in government services.
The government emphasised that although it had acknowledged the employees’ demands, any violations of service rules during the agitation would attract strict disciplinary measures. With the strike now suspended, public services across Odisha are expected to return to normal operations.
