Bhubaneswar: The special task force (STF) of state Crime Branch on Wednesday busted an inter-state illegal firearms racket with the arrest of two persons.
The accused persons have been identified as Rabindra Prasad of Munger, Bihar and Biswanath
Bisoi of Srikrushnapur, Balasore.
Acting on reliable inputs, regarding illegal smuggling of firearms, by the accused person, a team of STF intercepted the accused duo near Ranital in Bhadrak and conducted a search.
During the search, five 7 MM automatic pistols, seven Magazine and seven live ammunitions were recovered from their possession of the accused persons. Following this, the accused duo was arrested and forwarded to the court.
A case No.19 dated 05.05.2021 under Section 25/27 Arms Act has been registered and investigation is on.
During the last one year, STF has alone seized as many as 27 nos fire arms, 61 live ammunitions and arrested several criminals during drive against illegal arms & ammunitions.
