The second edition of the National Mediation Conference will be held in Odisha’s capital on September 28, marking a significant step in promoting alternative dispute resolution mechanisms across India.
Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan announced the event, highlighting Odisha’s growing role in judicial innovation.
The first conference was held in New Delhi, and the upcoming edition in Bhubaneswar is expected to draw national attention. Preparations are underway at both the administrative and judicial levels, with high-level meetings already initiated by the state secretariat and the Orissa High Court.
Organisers have extended an invitation to the President of India to grace the occasion. Chief Justice of India and the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court are also expected to attend, underscoring the event’s importance.
The conference aims to reduce litigation by encouraging mediation as a primary tool for dispute resolution. Discussions will also focus on streamlining the Mediation Act and making its provisions more accessible to the public.
This initiative is expected to foster a culture of dialogue and resolution, aligning with national efforts to ease the burden on courts and promote faster justice delivery.
