OpenAI has introduced a new subscription tier, ChatGPT Go, in India at Rs. 399 per month, making advanced AI features more affordable and accessible. The plan offers 10× higher usage limits, image generation, file uploads, and double the memory length compared to the free tier.
Announcing the launch, Nick Turley, Vice President and Head of ChatGPT, said India is the first country to get ChatGPT Go, reflecting the company’s focus on affordability and local needs. One of the most requested features by Indian users—UPI payments—has also been added, making upgrades simpler and widely accessible.
ChatGPT Go is positioned between the free and Plus plans, offering students, freelancers, and professionals greater flexibility at a lower cost. OpenAI now offers four subscription tiers in India: Free, Go (Rs. 399), Plus (Rs. 1,999), and Pro (Rs. 19,999).
For Indian users, pricing across all plans has been shifted to INR to eliminate currency conversion hassles. The India-first rollout marks a strategic move by OpenAI to expand AI adoption in cost-sensitive markets, with user feedback expected to shape global expansion.
The launch ensures smoother workflows, fewer usage interruptions, and greater creative freedom—whether drafting long documents, generating images, or analyzing files. With ChatGPT Go, OpenAI aims to make generative AI tools more inclusive and accessible beyond enterprises and premium subscribers.
