Chennai: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai earlier today after experiencing symptoms of acidity.
According to an official statement from the RBI, there is no cause for concern as Das’s condition is stable and he is expected to be discharged soon.
An RBI spokesperson confirmed, “Governor Das experienced acidity and was admitted to Apollo Hospital for observation. He is now doing fine and will be discharged in the next 2-3 hours. There is no cause for concern.”
The hospital has yet to issue a formal health update, but sources indicate that the situation is not an emergency. This development comes shortly after Das’s recent remarks on the resilience of the Indian economy, where he highlighted the country’s strong external sector and manageable current account deficit.
The RBI reassured the public that Das’s health issue is minor and that he will resume his duties shortly.
