Three migrant workers from Odisha lost their lives after being hit by a speeding truck on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Keesara in Hyderabad.
The victims—C Mohan, Jairam, and Narayana—aged between 25 and 32, had arrived in the city just a day earlier seeking employment. They were engaged in sapling plantation work along the ORR crash barriers under a private contractor’s beautification initiative.
According to police reports, the incident occurred post-lunch when the workers were walking toward the ORR exit. The truck, allegedly driven by S Ganesh from Gajuwaka, Andhra Pradesh, veered sharply to the left, mowing down the trio before crashing into a barrier and flipping over.
Authorities confirmed that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol. Preliminary investigation suggests fatigue may have caused him to doze off at the wheel.
The sudden demise of these workers has sparked concerns over labour safety and the need for stricter monitoring of vehicular movement along high-speed corridors.
