Bhubaneswar: As the death toll in the fire incident at a Covid care hospital in Maharashtra’s Virar continued to rise, firemen have been deployed at all dedicated Covid hospitals in Odisha.
This has been informed by Odisha Fire Services, Home Guards & Civil Defence.
To prevent any fire incident, fire tenders with fire-fighting equipment to meet any fire exigency have been deployed.
Following the recent incident of fire in hospitals, the step has been adopted for fire prevention and rescue in COVID hospitals.
The CCTV camera footage from the intensive care unit (ICU) of Vijay Vallabh hospital in Virar, which was submitted to the police on Friday, showed that the explosion in the second floor ICU took place within seconds of sparks starting to emanate from an air-conditioner (AC).
Over the past year, fire accidents at hospitals, particularly in Covid care centres, in Maharashtra have put the safety standards under the scanner.
