Dhenkanal: Odisha Vigilance today arrested Bibhudananda Mishra, Forest Range Officer in Dhenkanal Range for possession of disproportionate assets.
Based on searches conducted on properties of Mishra, he was found in possession of disproportionate assets including 1 high-value flat in Bhubaneswar and 2 flats in Hyderabad, 8 plots in Bhubaneswar and Dhenkanal, 1 farmhouse with civil construction approx Rs 2 crore, deposits over Rs 1 crore, cash Rs 5.15 lakh, gold 557 gms, 2 four wheelers, etc, which he could not explain satisfactorily.
Following this, Mishra has been placed under arrest and today will be forwarded to the Court. In this connection, Vigilance Cell PS Case No.9/2024 has been registered against the accused.
Further, officers of the Forest Wing of Odisha Vigilance along with local Forest staff of Dhenkanal Range went to his farmhouse at Rahangol, Athagarh, Cuttack and registered a case against Mishra for violating the Wild Life Protection Act, 1972 U/s 9 & 39 of the said Act punishable under section 51 of WLP Act for keeping Indian Peafowl( Pavo Cristatus).
In this connection, 4 Peafowls were seized and handed over to local Forest staff for custody.
