Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in various parts of Odisha due to a series of cyclonic circulations. A Yellow warning has been issued for August 23, particularly affecting Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, and Keonjhar districts. Rainfall intensity is expected to increase from August 24 onwards.
Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow warning for heavy rain in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh and Keonjhar. The intensity of rainfall is most likely to increase from tomorrow i.e. August 24, the forecast said.
A low-pressure area over north Bangladesh and neighbourhood persists over the same region. It is most likely to move westwards across West Bengal during the next 48 hours. Furthermore, another cyclonic circulation is also likely to form over the North Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood around August 24.
Monsoon trough continues to pass through to east-southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal extending up to 0.9km above the mean sea level, the Regional Centre of India Meteorological Department forecast said.
Under the impact of the series of cyclonic circulations, many places are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall accompanied by gusty surface wind, thunderstorms and lightning.
As per reports, Bargarh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Jajpur, Sundargarh and Jharusuguda might receive rainfall in the next 24 hours.
