In a significant move to ensure faster delivery of justice to the public, the Odisha state government has issued a notification for the establishment of 11 new Additional District Judge (ADJ) courts across various districts.
The notification, released on August 4, 2025, by the state’s Law Department, outlines the creation of three specialised Additional District Judge (Vigilance) courts in the districts of Puri, Nayagarh, and Kendrapara. These courts will focus on handling vigilance-related cases, ensuring stricter oversight and accountability in legal proceedings.
Additionally, eight new ADJ courts will be set up in Pipili (Puri), Ranpur (Nayagarh), Banapur (Khordha), Basudevpur (Bhadrak), Talcher (Angul), Rajgangpur (Sundargarh), Banki (Cuttack), and G. Udayagiri (Kandhamal). These courts are expected to address a wide range of civil and criminal cases, easing the burden on existing judicial infrastructure and expediting case resolutions.
