U.S. fighter jets were scrambled multiple times over the weekend after repeated breaches of a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) in place over Trump National Golf Club, where President Donald Trump was staying.
According to the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), there were five separate incursions into the restricted airspace. The most recent occurred on Sunday afternoon when a general aviation passenger aircraft violated the no-fly zone at 12:50 p.m. EDT.
NORAD aircraft intercepted the intruding plane, firing flares to get the pilot’s attention before safely escorting it out of the area.
Earlier in the day, another violation had been reported, bringing the weekend total to five.
The president’s public schedule confirmed he spent the weekend at the Bedminster golf club before returning to Washington in the evening.
