Officials report that the tragedy struck around 8:30 am on Sunday, due to last night’s heavy rainfall that caused the collapse. In the incident, a wall at the Hardaul Baba temple in Shahpur, Sagar district, gave way, resulting in the death of nine children and injuries to several others during a religious event. The injured have been transported to a hospital for treatment.
The rescue efforts were conducted by the locals and the police. This tragedy comes after a similar wall collapse in Rewa district the previous day, which claimed the lives of four school-going children. The owners of the property have since been detained.
Minister Govind Rajput has assured that the administration is proactively addressing the situation and disclosed that the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav has pledged financial aid of Rs 4 lakh for the bereaved families and Rs 1 lakh for those injured.
