New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday submitted a new chargesheet against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and others at the Rouse Avenue Court, related to the Excise policy case.
The previous week saw the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi prolong Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s judicial custody until August 8, about the Delhi excise policy case.
Kejriwal was presented to the court via video conferencing from Tihar Jail in a CBI case concerning the alleged liquor scam.
This ruling came after Kejriwal’s prior judicial custody period, initially set to end today, expired.
On July 18, the Delhi High Court held off on a decision regarding Arvind Kejriwal’s request for two additional legal consultations with his attorneys via video conferencing from jail.
The plea faced opposition from the counsel representing jail authorities and the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
After considering the arguments from both sides, Justice Neena Bansal Krishna decided to reserve judgment on the matter. Senior advocate Ramesh Gupta represented Arvind Kejriwal.
On July 1, the Rouse Avenue Court rejected Kejriwal’s request for two extra meetings with his lawyers via video conferencing (VC) from Tihar Jail. Special judge Kaveri Baweja turned down the application filed on behalf of Arvind Kejriwal. He had submitted a request for the Jail Authorities to allow two additional consultations with his lawyers via VC.
