New Delhi: Faced with an all-out attack by the Opposition over the NEET issue and questions on whether he has considered resigning, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today said he is on the post “at the mercy of my leader” and that the government is “collectively answerable”.
Congress MP and LoP in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi said “The issue is that there are millions of students in the country who are extremely concerned about what is going on and who are convinced that the Indian examination system is a fraud. Millions of people believe that if you are rich and you have money, you can buy the Indian examination system and this is the same feeling that the opposition has…”
Congress MP and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi said, “It is evident to everyone that our examination system, including NEET and other major tests, is seriously flawed. The minister (Dharmendra Pradhan) has shifted the blame onto others and seems to lack a fundamental understanding of the issue.”
Meanwhile, Opposition parties were calling for the resignation of education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and demanding the scrapping of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). As the Monsoon session begins, the opposition has intensified its demands against ongoing controversies and issues related to NEET. The session is expected to see vigorous protest as parties push for their agendas.
Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, “In the past seven years, no evidence of paper leaks has been found. The NEET issue is currently before the Supreme Court. I can confidently say that over 240 exams have been successfully conducted by the NTA since then.”
