New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday for the tragic stampede in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras resulted in 121 deaths.
“President of Russia Vladimir Putin sent a condolence message to President of India Droupadi Murmu & Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi over the tragic stampede in Uttar Pradesh: Kindly accept the most sincere condolences over the tragic accident in Uttar Pradesh.,” the Russian Embassy wrote on social media X.

The stampede took place at a religious gathering in Hathras on Tuesday, where 121 individuals lost their lives and 35 were injured, according to officials.
In related developments, police carried out a search at the Ram Kutir Charitable Trust in the Mainpuri district for ‘Bhole Baba’, who led a Satsang in Hathras during which the stampede occurred on Tuesday. However, they could not find any trace of the Baba ji, mentioned Deputy SP Sunil Kumar.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed a thorough investigation into the incident.
