Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police is fully ready with massive security arrangements to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the polling process during the third phase of elections in the State to be conducted on May 25.
Speaking to media persons on Friday, DGP Arun Kumar Sarangi said that a total of 35,000 State police and Paramilitary security personnel will be deployed to maintain law and order during the third phase of the polling process to be conducted in six Lok Sabha and 42 Assembly segments under 12 police districts.

The 3rd Phase Polling in Odisha; 6 PCs and 42 ACs in 12 police districts of Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Cuttack UPD, Nayagada, Puri, Khordha and Bhubaneswar UPD are going to Poll.

- Around 20% sensitive booths. Sensitivity is being reassessed regularly.

- Total Manpower to be utilized during the election – 35000 which includes 121 Coys of CAPF, 106 platoons of Odisha Armed Police and 19865 civil police personnel have been deployed.

- Total 42 Assembly Supervising Officers in the rank of Addl. SP with striking force.
- 84 DSP will supervise the law and order (2 for each assembly segment) with striking force.
- 231 Sector Officers in the rank of Inspector with striking force. (Each assembly around 6 Sectors)
- One to half section CAPF in all sensitive booths. 100% utilization of CAPF in booth duty.

- EVM Strong Rooms at 25 locations have been established being guarded round the clock by CAPF and SAP in a 2-tiered Security System.
- For each Parliament Constituency, there is one Police observer of ECI. Besides there are Special Police Observers for the State.
- Worry List: The candidates and political parties have given a “worry list” of booths. CAPF will be deployed after assessing the sensitivity.
- Elaborate Communication Planning. Not much shadow area. In those areas, VHF sets have been installed in the booths.
SOCIAL MEDIA MONITORING
- In every district Social Media Monitoring Cell and at the state level Social Media Monitoring & Cyber Security Units are functioning under the supervision of the IG of Police CID-CB.
- So far 145 social media-related complaints have been received and 394 contents have been taken down/removed. 5 cases have been registered and 1 person has been arrested. 843 social media handles are under surveillance.
GENERAL
- Instructions were issued for the immediate registration of cases, immediate investigation and apprehension of the accused.
- In dealing with complaints, in enforcement activities and all police actions, total impartially, objectivity and toughness have been insisted upon.
- Regular VCs with Districts & Ranges and instructions for peaceful conduct of poll are being given.
