Angul: Police claimed to have busted an Inter-State Cyber Fraud Racket with the arrest of three persons. The accused have been identified as Krushna Chandra Barik (26), Ganesh Kumar Barik (23), and Krushna Mukhi.
As per available reports, the accused trio used to dupe gullible prospective buyers of vehicles with lucrative offers.
Reportedly, a man fell into the trap of the accused after he was offered a bullet motorcycle at a discounted price of Rs 55,000. The complainant had come across the advertisement on social media.
Accordingly, he approached the seller who asked him to deposit Rs 55,000 in parts of 2150, 11150, 11000, 150, 15000, 27500 on a particular account number. The complainant followed the directions and transferred the money.
However, he never got the motorcycle nor the refund as promised by the caller.
Acting on the complaint, Vikrampur police tracked and apprehended the accused trio. Their mobile phones, laptop, and hard disk have been seized.
During the course of investigation, it was known that the accused used different names and different POS (point of sale) outlets to issue fake sim cards.
The accused have been booked under Sections 420 of the IPC and Sections 66(C) 66(D) of the Information Technology Act.
