In a major step towards strengthening its renewable energy sector, the Odisha government has approved solar and wind power projects totaling 178 megawatts (MW), with an investment inflow of Rs 869.8 crore.

This decision was finalized by the Energy Department’s single-window committee during a meeting on Wednesday.

Among the key projects approved are:

  • A 69.5 MW solar park by Prozeal Green Energy Limited at Biramaharajpur in Subarnapur district.

  • A 49.5 MW solar project by INOX Solar Limited at Telkoi in Keonjhar.

  • A 10 MW solar project by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) at Lakhanpur in Jharsuguda.

  • A wind energy project by NLC India Renewables Limited at Papadahandi in Nabarangpur district.

With these approvals, Odisha’s cumulative renewable energy capacity now stands at 1,844.86 MW, attracting total investment commitments of Rs 12,599.79 crore to date.

Officials highlighted that these initiatives are part of the state’s strategy to accelerate green energy adoption, reduce carbon emissions, and promote energy security through sustainable sources.
