Mallikarjun Kharge, on Monday took aim at the Central government, raising concerns over the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, and questioning the status of Operation Sindoor.

He also highlighted repeated claims by former US President Donald Trump, who said that a ceasefire between India and Pakistan occurred only due to his intervention.

Raising the issue under Rule 267, Kharge said:

“The terrorists behind the Pahalgam attack have not been caught or neutralised. The Lieutenant Governor of J&K himself acknowledged an intelligence failure. All parties supported the government unconditionally; now the House must be informed of the developments.”

Kharge further stated that Trump had claimed 24 times that his mediation led to the ceasefire, prompting questions about India’s official position on the matter.

Responding briefly, Union Minister JP Nadda assured that the government was open to a discussion on Operation Sindoor. However, due to a ruckus in the House, proceedings were adjourned until 12 PM.

The Opposition has demanded a detailed briefing and accountability on national security failures, while the government reiterated its willingness for dialogue once normalcy returns in the Upper House.
