Bringing much-needed relief to thousands across Odisha, the state government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all victims of chit fund scams will be refunded, irrespective of the amount they deposited.
BJP State President Manmohan Samal stated that “every single depositor—whether a small saver or someone who lost lakhs—will receive their rightful money back.” He emphasised that no one should harbour doubt regarding the process. “Even if one deposited Rs 10,000 or Rs 10 lakh, refunds will be processed,” he added.
According to official data, around 1,26,137 eligible depositors have already received refunds. Plans are underway to process compensation for another 5 lakh individuals within the next three to four months. “Only basic proof needs to be submitted, and the funds will be returned in a phased manner,” Samal clarified.
The government has reportedly finalised a comprehensive beneficiary list, and the refund mechanism is now in a regularised process. Additional lists will continue to be compiled, ensuring that no eligible individual is left behind.
This announcement marks a major step in restoring faith among the citizens, many of whom have long awaited justice and financial closure following widespread financial fraud.
