Bhubaneswar: The people Odisha received a message on their mobile phones with some instructions popping on it in english and regional language with an alarming noise and vibration.
However, there is no need to panic as it was a sample testing message which required no action.
The message was sent to test Pan-India Emergency Alert System implemented by National Disaster Management Authority with an aim of enhancing public safety and providing timely alerts during emergencies.
The message read: ‘This is a sample testing message sent through Cell Broadcasting System by Department of Telecommunication, Government of India. Please ignore this message as no action is required from your end. This message has been sent to test Pan-India Emergency Alert System being implemented by National Disaster Management Authority. It aims to enhance public saftery and provire timely alerts during emergencies.’
As mentioned in the message, the Cell Broadcasting System by Department of Telecommunication, Government of India is sending this message as form of trail. This alert will help to notify every citizen of the country during the time of disaster and any emergency.
The National Disaster Management Authority is testing the emergency message through Pan-India service, which will be implemented in the time of need.
