Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has urged the National Testing Agency (NTA) for considering one examination centre in each district of the state for NEET UG 2021.
In a letter to Vineet Joshi, Director General, NTA, Addition Chief Secretary of Health & Family Welfare Department, Odisha, PK Mohapatra has requested for additional examination centres in State for NEET UG 2021.
Mohapatra apprised the NTA DG that for the NEET UG examination, there is proposal of setting of only seven examination centers in Odisha namely Angul, Balasore, Berhampur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Rourkela and Sambalpur.
Odisha has got vast tribal pockets having geographically inaccessible areas and far away from the urban centres of the state for which the students may be deprived of appearing the NEET UG as they will have to move long distance for appearing this test, said the Health Dept ACS.
ACS PK Mohapatra stated that in view of the COVID-19 Pandemic, it will be highly unsafe for the students to visit the few examination centres physically to appear for the test. He further said that due to the frequent lockdown and shutdown imposed by different districts administrations the transportation system is very often disrupted making the movement of the student’s further worse.
The Health Dept ACS requested the NTA DG to consider one examination centre in each district of Odisha for the NEET UG 2021.
