Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has vehemently condemned the recent gang rape incident at Gopalpur beach, describing it as a “heinous and inhumane crime.”
In a strong statement, he assured that the perpetrators would face exemplary punishment under the strictest provisions of the law, emphasising that no culprit would be spared.
Following the Chief Minister’s directive, Berhampur police acted swiftly, arresting 10 suspects linked to the crime. CM Majhi has instructed law enforcement to ensure all individuals directly or indirectly involved are brought to justice.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik also expressing concern and urging the government to take stringent measures.
The arrests mark a significant step in addressing the crime, but the incident has reignited discussions on women’s safety in the state.
The Odisha government’s prompt response underscores its commitment to tackling such atrocities. With public scrutiny intensifying, authorities are likely to implement stricter measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
