Ahmedabad: Team India captain Rohit Sharma on Saturday achieved a massive feat as he reached the 17,000-run mark in international cricket.
Rohit achieved the feat on Day 3 of the fourth Test against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad today.
With this, he became the sixth Indian to achieve the feat after Sachin Tendulkar (34357), Virat Kohli (25047), Rahul Dravid (24208), Sourav Ganguly (18575), and MS Dhoni (17266).
The Indian captain also completed 2000 runs at home in red-ball cricket in terms of innings taken.
Earlier in the Ahmedabad Test, Australia posted a strong score of 480 in the first innings, breaching the 400-run mark for the first time in the series. U
sman Khawaja (180) and Cameron Green (114) scored centuries for the visitors, while Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin picked up a five-wicket haul – his 32nd in Test career.
