The PadhAI: Conclave on AI in Education, organised by the Centre of Policy Research and Governance (CPRG), brought together top policymakers, educators, and AI experts to discuss the future of artificial intelligence in Indian education. Union Minister for Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, in his valedictory address, emphasised AI’s transformative potential in education and beyond.

Pradhan described AI as a force multiplier and a bridge between empathy and technology, highlighting the need for India’s human intelligence to lead the AI revolution. He stressed that AI is no longer optional in school education—it is essential for fostering critical thinking and expanding learning beyond traditional classroom settings.

The Minister pointed to key government initiatives, including the establishment of a Centre of Excellence in AI, efforts to integrate AI into Indian languages, and programs that transition education from chalkboards to chipsets. He encouraged educators and tech professionals to provide recommendations for shaping AI policies that enhance learning outcomes.

The two-day conclave featured discussions on AI’s role in higher education, overcoming institutional bottlenecks, and expanding learning opportunities. Among the distinguished speakers were Shri Jitin Prasada (Minister of State for Commerce & IT), Shri Ashish Sood (Delhi Minister for Education & Higher Education), and Dr. Vineet Joshi (Secretary, Department of Higher Education).

With AI set to play a pivotal role in shaping the education sector, the conclave underscored the importance of responsible implementation and policy-driven innovation. The discussions reinforced India’s commitment to leading the next wave of AI-driven education, ensuring that technology serves as an enabler rather than a disruptor.
