Cuttack: Over thousands of people are expected to travel to Cuttack for the inaugural ceremony of the FIH Hockey World Cup, scheduled to be held on January 11. To ensure smooth conduct of the much-awaited event, the district administration here has banned the entry of heavy vehicles.
The decision was taken keeping in view of the safety and convenience of eminent personalities, VIPs and VVIPs during the opening ceremony to and from Barabati stadium, said the Cuttack DM, Bhabani Shankar Chayani in an order.
As per the order, the plying of trucks, tractors, tippers carrying sand, chips, stones and bricks have been prohibited from January 1 midnight to January 12 midnight in Cuttack city and the road connecting up to Bhubaneswar.
However, vehicles transporting essential goods are exempted from the restrictions, said Chayani.
Hockey India (HI) is organising the FIH Men’s World Cup at Barabati Stadium here on January 11, 2023.
The prestigious tournament will be held at Bhubaneswar and Rourkela from January 13 to 29, 2023.
