The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a week-long alert for Odisha, forecasting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms with lightning, and gusty surface winds across several districts from May 24 to May 30, 2025.
A cyclonic circulation is currently located over north coastal Odisha and its neighboring regions at an altitude of 3.1 km above mean sea level.
A low-pressure area is likely to form over the west-central and adjoining North Bay of Bengal around May 27, which may further intensify.
Significant cooling has been observed across many districts:

Appreciable drop of 2–3°C in parts of South Odisha.

In contrast, South Coastal Odisha recorded a rise of about 3°C.
