The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has refuted ongoing speculations regarding the formation of a cyclone over the Bay of Bengal.

Despite discussions circulating in the media, IMD has clarified that there is no confirmed information on cyclone development at this time.

Reports had suggested that a potential cyclone might form between May 23 and May 28, causing concerns across coastal regions. However, IMD sources have stated that while a low-pressure system may develop during this period, its intensification into a cyclone is not yet certain. If it does evolve into a cyclone, it may be named “Shakti”.

Should the system intensify, it is projected to make landfall between May 24 and May 26, impacting Odisha, West Bengal, and regions of Bangladesh such as Khulna and Chattogram. Authorities have urged the public to stay informed and follow official updates.
