Bhubaneswar: In two separate cases, cyber fraudsters, posing as customer care agents, swindled a total of Rs 2.3 lakh from two persons hailing from Bhubaneswar.
According to available information, Prasanta Kumar Bidyadhar awaited a refund of airfare since his flight was cancelled for Covid-19 from the travelling partner Goibibo.
Reportedly, Prashanta got a call from a person posing as a customer care agent of Goibibo and asked for the credit card details in order to initiate the refund amount.
Following this, Prashanta shared his card details. Thereafter, he got a message that Rs 1.47 lakh has been debited from his account.
Similarly, in another case, one Smrutiranjan Bhuyan, from Jaydev Vihar was duped of Rs 82,000 from his e-wallet by a fraudster posing as a customer care agent.
