India Intercepts Pakistani Drones Over J&K’s Samba

Indian defence forces engaged and intercepted suspected Pakistani drones over Samba district in Jammu and Kashmir, marking another tense encounter in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor.

According to defence sources, red streaks were seen and explosions heard, as video footage captured Indian forces successfully intercepting the aerial threats. This incident follows a similar drone infiltration on May 8, when Pakistani drones were reported in Jammu, Akhnoor, Nagrota, Amritsar, and Pathankot.

Pakistan launched drone strikes on Indian territory a day after Operation Sindoor, a precision military strike that targeted nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation was carried out in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed multiple Indian lives.

On May 10, India and Pakistan agreed to stop firing along the border, attempting to ease escalating tensions. However, Pakistan violated the ceasefire just hours later, with multiple blasts reported in Srinagar and a red alert issued across the region.

Sources confirmed that a Pakistani drone was shot down in Rajasthan’s Pokhran and Baramulla, Kashmir, as India maintained heightened vigilance over its airspace.

While defence sources assured that the small number of drones does not pose an immediate threat, authorities remain on high alert for potential future incursions. Amid ongoing border tensions, security forces continue monitoring aerial activity to safeguard Indian military bases and civilian zones.

As India strengthens its border security measures, experts suggest that drone warfare could become a persistent concern in the evolving Indo-Pak conflict.
