The Odisha government reaffirmed its commitment to rural development as Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja conducted an extensive review of ongoing projects in Nagada, Jajpur district today.

Accompanied by senior officials from various departments, including Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Secretary Girish SN and District Collector P. Anvesha Reddy, the Chief Secretary engaged with residents and inspected key development initiatives.

Among the priority areas reviewed, Shri Ahuja expressed concerns over the slow pace of housing construction under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He directed the Zilla Parishad CEO and Block Development Officer (BDO) to accelerate completion. Assessing broader infrastructural needs, he also examined public health, women and child welfare, and water supply schemes, ensuring the timely delivery of essential services.

During interactions with beneficiaries of the Mamata Yojana, the Chief Secretary urged officials to incorporate eligible individuals who were previously left out. Drinking water quality was another major concern, leading to directives for the provision of a designated pond for villagers’ hygiene and sanitation needs.

Ahuja also emphasised the importance of empowering farmers by expediting land ownership certificates under the Forest Rights Act. Instructions were issued to the District Collector and relevant authorities to accelerate the process. In an effort to boost education, he inspected the functioning of a government high school and urged officials to improve student attendance rates.

The visit further highlighted challenges in tribal welfare. Ahuja inspected the village’s tribal hostel, which has been non-functional for three years, and directed the District Welfare Officer (DWO) to make immediate arrangements for its reopening. Lastly, his assessment of the Kaliani Pani Primary Health Centre resulted in directives for an urgent upgrade of healthcare services.

The Odisha government’s proactive approach toward rural progress is evident in the Chief Secretary’s visit, aiming to strengthen infrastructure, welfare programs, and long-term sustainability in tribal communities.
