Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday apprehended Sub-Inspector Susanta Kumar Swain, in charge of Bhejiput police outpost under Khalikote police station in Ganjam district on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000.
According to reports, the Sub-Inspector was caught red-handed by the Vigilance sleuths while taking gratification of Rs 15,000 from a person to help the latter in a case registered against him earlier in the Khalikote PS.
“The entire bribe money of Rs 15,000/ has been recovered from the exclusive possession of accused SI Swain and seized. Following the trap, simultaneous house searches are going on at two locations of SI Swain,” the Vigilance said in a brief press note.
“In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance PS case no.18/2022 U/c 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation in progress against Swain,” the Vigilance added.
