MP Priyanka Chaturvedi Slams Bollywood’s Scramble for ‘Operation Sindoor’ Film Title

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has sharply criticised Bollywood’s rush to cash in on India’s recent military success by claiming the film title Operation Sindoor, calling the move “shameless.”

Her remark came after reports revealed that at least 15 filmmakers and studios—including big names like Madhur Bhandarkar, Ashoke Pandit, T-Series, Zee Studios, and Mahaveer Jain—rushed to register the title with the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) just days after India’s successful cross-border operation.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Chaturvedi minced no words, calling the title-grabbers “shameless vultures”—a blunt rebuke of what she views as opportunistic filmmaking in the midst of national trauma.

Even production banners linked to actor-producer John Abraham and filmmaker Aditya Dhar reportedly filed for the title. The frenzy, however, triggered backlash for what many perceive as commercial exploitation of a sensitive real-time military conflict.

Media speculation also dragged Reliance Industries into the mix, but the conglomerate swiftly issued a denial, clarifying it had no role in the title race.

The real Operation Sindoor was a high-risk military strike that neutralised terror threats across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. While widely celebrated as a strategic victory, the film industry’s eagerness to fictionalise the operation has sparked a wider debate on ethics, timing, and the fine line between patriotism and profiteering.
