In a pointed critique, the Leader of Opposition (LOP) and President of Biju Janata Dal, Naveen Patnaik took aim at the Governor’s Address in the State Assembly, accusing the BJP-led government of masking its failures by taking undue credit for the achievements of the previous BJD Government.
The LOP expressed that the address lacked vision and was politically motivated rather than focused on development and welfare.
Key issues highlighted by the opposition leader included the deteriorating law and order situation, rising prices, farmers’ woes, and unemployment.
The LOP emphasized the government’s unfulfilled promises to farmers, especially regarding paddy procurement and compensation for unseasonal rains. The opposition also noted that crimes such as theft and murder were increasing, even in high-security areas.
The opposition leader criticized the government’s inability to control the rising prices, noting that Odisha is among the top states with high inflation.
Patnaik concluded that the Governor’s Address was more about political rhetoric than addressing the actual needs and welfare of the people.
