Kuala Lumpur: Ace shuttler PV Sindhu advanced into the second round of the Malaysia Masters badminton tournament on Wednesday. Two-time Olympic medallist Sindhu outclassed China’s He Bing Jiao in the opening round.
Sindhu knocked out Bing Jiao with 21-13, 17-21, 21-15 scoreline, taking the time close to an hour.
However, 2012 London Olympics bronze medallist, Saina Nehwal, lost to Kim Ga Eun of South Korea in her opening round tie.
In the men’s singles, B Sai Praneeth and Parupalli Kashyap moved to the second round.
Meanwhile, Sameer Verma went down fighting to fourth seed Chinese Taipei shuttler Chou Tien Chen 21-10, 12-21, 14-21.
