Bhubaneswar: As many as 15 places in Odisha recorded day temperature of 40 °C or above on Thursday, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
As per the latest bulletin from Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, Bolangir was the hottest place in the state today at 45.3 °C followed by Titilagarh at 45.2 °C. This is the first time this year that the maximum day temperature crossed the 45 °C mark at two places in the state, the Met centre said.
The other places which recorded maximum day temperature of 40 °C or above are Boudh at 44 °C, Bhawanipatna at 43.5 °C, Malkangiri at 43 °C, Jharsuguda at 42.7, Bargarh at 42.6 °C, Nuapada 42.4 °C, Sambalpur & Sundargarh at 42 °C each, Sonepur at 41.5 °C, Deogarh 41.2 °C, Hirakud at 41.3 °C, Baripada & Nabarangpur at 40 °C each.
“There will be no large change in Maximum temperature (day temperature) at many places over the districts of Odisha during the next 2 days and slight fall of temperature by about 2 °C at a few places of the districts of Interior Odisha thereafter,” the IMD said in its evening weather bulletin.
Today, the day temperature remained below 40 °C in the Twin Cities, with Bhubaneswar recording 33.2 °C and Cuttack at 33 °C.
In its forecast for Bhubaneswar and the neighbourhood area for the next 24 hours, the IMD said that the weather will remain partly cloudy sky with the possibility of moderate thunder or rain and the Maximum and Minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 37 °C and 28 °C respectively.
