Cuttack Gears Up For Elections To Civic Body On Mar 24

Cuttack: The Millenium City, Cuttack is gearing up for urban local body polls in an overwhelmed way as voters are set to exercise their franchise in the election for one of the major civic bodies.

In the elections,16 candidates are in the fray each for the post of Mayor for the Cuttack Municipal Corporation.

This will be the first time that the urban people will cast their votes for their respective ward corporators and civic body mayors.

This election in Odisha especially in Cuttack is going t be tough because on the one hand state ruled BJD has named former Rajya Sabha MP Subhas Singh as its mayor candidate, BJP and Congress have named Sritam Das and Giribala Behera respectively.

But eyes are also on 22-years-old young proficient Om Prakash Panda, who is standing as an independent candidate.

Voting for the election will start at 8 AM on March 24 and will continue till 5 PM and the counting will be taken up on March 26.

State Police have deployed 195 platoons of the police force for the smooth conduct of the election while 20 platoons of the police force will be deployed for the election to the Cuttack.
