On the eve of his 73rd birthday, legendary actor Kamal Haasan officially announced his next feature film, titled Sandiyar, on Friday evening, November 6, 2026. The high-octane project will be directed by acclaimed filmmaker S.U. Arun Kumar (Chithha, Veera Dheera Sooran).
Produced under Haasan’s banner Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI), the announcement marks the actor’s first concrete new project lead since his 2025 collaboration with Mani Ratnam, Thug Life.
First Look Poster & Key Crew Details
The promotional poster released by RKFI sets an intense, action-driven tone for the upcoming film. The first-look poster depicts a rugged Kamal Haasan featuring grey hair, a heavy beard, and neutral attire, staring intently at the camera while holding a firearm inside a blood-splattered vehicle.
The Tamil title Sandiyar translates to a brawler, rogue, or ruthless fighter—historically carrying connotations of a valiant warrior standing up in battle.
Renowned composer Anirudh Ravichander will score the music, while top stunt directors Anbariv have been roped in for action choreography. Additional cast details remain under wraps.
Kamal Haasan’s Multi-Film Lineup
The announcement of Sandiyar adds to a busy production schedule for the veteran star:
- Sequel Projects: Haasan recently resumed filming for Nag Ashwin’s sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Prabhas. Additionally, director Shankar has slated Indian 3 for future release.
- Collaborations with Rajinikanth: Haasan is co-producing Dharman (starring Rajinikanth, directed by Ashwath Marimuthu) and remains attached to the high-profile KH x RK joint project directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.
- Production Ventures: Under RKFI, Haasan is also producing Seyon, directed by Sivakumar Murugesan and starring Sivakarthikeyan.
