Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 54th meeting of PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation) at Seva Teerth today, reviewing critical infrastructure projects spanning 31 States and Union Territories with a total valuation exceeding ₹16,000 crore.
The ICT-enabled multimodal interaction brought together top Central and State Government leadership to resolve inter-agency bottlenecks and accelerate welfare and project implementation.
The review focused heavily on major transport infrastructure, PM Ekta Malls, and the pharma sector. While examining the redevelopment plan for the Ahmedabad railway station, Prime Minister Modi directed officials to fast-track station modernization efforts nationwide, envisioning major railway hubs as seamless multimodal transport centers linked directly with local metro systems and transit networks.
In the healthcare and manufacturing domain, the Prime Minister evaluated the progress of Bulk Drug Parks across Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Himachal Pradesh. He stressed the imperative of prioritizing domestic production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and essential raw inputs to secure national self-reliance in the pharmaceutical ecosystem.
Highlighting economic integration at the grassroots level, the Prime Minister called for linking PM Ekta Malls with tourism hubs and local business networks. He noted that integrated demand creation for regional products directly benefits rural enterprise—expanding livelihoods across handicraft production, packaging, warehousing, and logistics. State Chief Secretaries were asked to maintain continuous oversight to ensure timely completion.
Emphasizing the core governing philosophy of the government, PM Modi urged Chief Secretaries to hold monthly coordination meetings with District Magistrates to plug scheme implementation gaps. He noted that public spending must prioritize tangible outcome metrics over initial budgetary outlays. Referencing initiatives like the Aspirational Districts and Aspirational Blocks Programmes, the Prime Minister highlighted how convergent governance, routine monitoring, and localized accountability have contributed to pulling nearly 25 crore citizens out of multidimensional poverty.
Concluding the session, the Prime Minister instructed relevant Ministries and State administrations to operate in mission mode, proactively anticipating implementation delays and establishing clear accountability to guarantee schedule adherence across all projects.
