The Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended four Pakistani fishermen and seized their fibre fishing boat in the sensitive Sir Creek area of Gujarat’s Rann of Kutch.
The operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs regarding unauthorised activity in Indian territorial waters. BSF personnel successfully intercepted the individuals, who had allegedly crossed the International Border to catch crabs.
The apprehended fishermen have been identified as Kadir Thaimor, Muhammad Mussa, Azgar Thaimor, and Ahsan Jat. According to initial reports, all four hail from Pakistan’s Sindh province.
Sir Creek, a disputed 96-kilometre tidal estuary marshland between India and Pakistan in the Rann of Kutch marshlands, remains a heavily guarded and sensitive security zone. Due to its challenging terrain and rich marine life, it is frequently targeted for illegal crossings by fishermen, prompting heightened vigilance by the BSF.
Further investigations, including checks for any recovered items or hidden contraband and subsequent legal proceedings under relevant maritime and immigration acts, are currently underway.
