Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, has expressed a strong desire to mend his strained relationship with the British royal family, stating that reconciliation remains a top priority despite past grievances.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with GQ magazine in New York, the 42-year-old royal emphasized the importance of family unity, noting that healing personal rifts is crucial amid an increasingly turbulent world.
Addressing the widespread fascination with his family’s high-profile estrangement, Harry described sibling disagreements and fractured parent-child relationships as experiences that are “massively relatable” across all walks of life. While acknowledging that emotional “scars stick around forever,” he encouraged individuals to embrace a positive mindset, let go of past conflicts, and move forward.
Clarifying the remarks, a spokesperson for the Duke noted that his reflections were intended in a broad, general context rather than as a criticism of King Charles III, Prince William, or other members of the royal family.
The commentary comes at a notable period of transition for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who stepped back from their duties as senior working royals in 2020. Having previously relocated to California, the family—including children Archie and Lilibet—recently returned to the United Kingdom, where the children are currently transitioning into local British schools.
