Odisha Police Director General (DGP) Vinaytosh Mishra has issued a stern warning that the use of DJs will be completely banned during upcoming immersion processions.
Emphasizing public safety and adherence to regulations, the DGP stated that police will keep a close watch on modified vehicles and take strict legal action against anyone violating noise pollution norms.
Highlighting the peaceful atmosphere during the ongoing Dussehra festivities across the state, the DGP thanked the public for their full cooperation. To ensure smooth celebrations—particularly in Kataka and other sensitive zones—extensive police forces have been deployed, and strict surveillance is being maintained over anti-social elements.
Honouring Police Martyrs
The announcements came on the sidelines of the 67th Police Commemoration Day, held at the Police Headquarters in Buxi Bazar, Kataka. DGP Vinaytosh Mishra, alongside senior police officials, paid heartfelt tributes and presented a Guard of Honour to police personnel and officers who laid down their lives fighting anti-national elements, Naxals, and organised criminals.
In a strong message to the criminal underworld, the DGP asserted, “Whether it is Naxals, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, or any other criminal, criminals will be answered in their own language. The police force is fully prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice to maintain law and order.”
He also noted a significant decline in police casualties over the years, pointing out that while fatalities exceeded a thousand around the year 2000, they have now dropped below a hundred, with expectations of further reductions in the future.
