The Union Cabinet has sanctioned eight railway projects with a budget allocation of Rs 19,289 crore for Odisha, according to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
On Tuesday, the minister expressed his gratitude towards the Prime Minister for approving a comprehensive budget of Rs 73,723 crore aimed at accelerating the development of Odisha’s railway infrastructure.
He also mentioned that the existing three railway zones under the East Coast Railway (ECoR) will remain operational. Additionally, the Cabinet has greenlit the establishment of the Rayagada Railway Zone, with a tender worth Rs 107 crore already issued for constructing its zonal office in Rayagada.
Furthermore, Vaishnaw announced the redevelopment of 59 railway stations in Odisha as part of the ministry’s Amrit Station Scheme.

1. Gunupur-Therubali New Railway Line
2. Junagarh Road-Nabarangpur New Railway Line
3. Malkangiri-Pandurangapuram via Bhadrachalam new railway line
4. Badampahar-Kendujhargarh new railway line
5. Bangiriposhi-Gorumahisani New Railway Line
6. Budamara-Chakulia new railway line
7. Sardega-Bhalumuda new dual carriageway railway line
8. Bargarh Road-Nuapada Road New Railway Line
A detailed discussion was held with Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Odisha MPs in this regard.
