The excise officials seized 77 litres of illicit liquors in Bolangir district and arrested two smugglers in this connection.
The accused have been identified as Gopal Sa (40) of Kendughat village and Lambodar Rana (27) of Ainlapali village.
Acting on a tip-off, the team of cops conducted raids and seized 22 litres of illicit liquor from Gopal at Kendughat chhak and 55 litres from Lambodar at Bdabahal chhak.
A TVS Victor bearing registration number OR-03C-2982 and a Honda CD Don OR-03E-3270 have been seized from the spot. The Excise Police arrested two accused and forwarded them to the Excise Court in Tusura.
It is learnt that the two accused have been sent to the Bolangir judicial custody after their bail was rejected. The Excise Police, led by Excise Inspector Srikant Panigrahi, arrested the two illegal liquor dealers from different villages in a single day and seized a total of 77 litres of illicit liquor. A case has been registered against the two accused for violation of Section 52(a) of the Odisha Excise Act, 2008.
