Bhubaneswar: The state government has safely rescued 65 Odia students stuck in the war zones of Kharkiv and Pisochin and shifted them to the western Ukrainian border by two special buses, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Odisha said on Friday.
Scores of students in the Kharkiv and Pisochin areas have been stranded for the past three days and are facing severe problems. The process is underway to rescue all students in the area and bring them to India. So far, 199 students have arrived in India safely, the CMO said.
The state government has intensified its efforts to rescue many more Odia students who are still stuck in the war zones of Kharkiv and Pesochin in Ukraine.
As the Odisha government continues its efforts to rescue all Odia students safely, the New Delhi-based Resident Commissioner Office is coordinating the rescue operation.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the state government has appointed four special representatives to coordinate with four countries bordering Ukraine and ensure evacuation of Odia students and NROs.
