Bhubaneswar: 10 young authors received PEN IN BOOKS Young Author Award 2020 in a special event at Hotel Park Premium here in the city. Organised by publishing house PEN IN BOOKS, the award event witnessed a huge gathering of authors, poets and intellectuals.
While senior Poet, Gandhian & Sarvodaya activist Sri Sailaja Rabi joined as chief guest, Sahitya Akademi award winner celebrated author Dr Gourahari Das joined as Chief speaker. Founder and former chancellor of Kalinga University Dr Badrinath Patnaik also graced the occasion as a guest of honour. Noted author and director of the publishing firm Subhransu Panda had presided over the award ceremony.
The PEN IN BOOKS Young Author Award is instituted in 2017 to encourage and introduce young and promising writers to the wide fraternity of readers.
In this 4th edition, 6 young Odia writers received the award 2 authors writing in Hindi and 2 authors writing in English also received the awards. Priyaranjan Pattanaik for his Odia short-story manuscript ‘Baina O VaniVihar’, Himanshu Sekhar Mishra for his Odia poetry manuscript ‘Topae Samudra’, Rudra Ranjan Sejpada for his Odia short-story manuscript ‘Corona Kahani’, Deepak Kumar Swain for his Odia poetry manuscript ‘Ashru Abhisar’, Pritisima Swain for her Odia poetry manuscript ‘Jeevan Saha Sandhi’ and Dinesh Jena for his Odia poetry manuscript ‘Corona O Anyanya Kabita’ have received the award today.
Tulika Vividh Rang for her Hindi poetry manuscript ‘Gulabi Canvas’, Nidhi Garg for her Hindi poetry manuscript ‘Jindagi Jaise Koi Samunder’, Miyog Ranjan Patra for his English poetry manuscript ‘Entropy of Thoughts’ and Ankita Sahoo for her English poetry manuscript ‘A Potpourri Of Poems’ have been also conferred with PEN IN BOOKS Young Author Award 2020.
These awarded manuscripts will be published in book forms soon, said Mr Panda.
After the award ceremony a poetry recitation session was conducted by celebrated satire poet Kulangar and participated by poets like Girish Ranjan, Sarbagila, Artatran Mishra, Subhra Sucharita, Hadibandhu Mahakhuda and Bighneswar.
